Hapé Chief is a very special snuff created by Nixiwaka, also known as Biraci Brasil, the Chief of the Yawanawá tribe.

Background of Biraci Brasil

Biraci Brasil, or Nixiwaka, played a crucial role in leading his people back to their roots after suffering significant losses due to the encroachments of rubber tappers and religious missionaries . He was the first in a long time to undertake an initiation diet, which reconnected him with his ancestors. One of the forgotten medicines he revived was Rumã, also known as Hapé. His efforts are a key reason why this indigenous medicine is available for consecration today.

As a leader, Biraci moved his people from their original, enslaved location to establish the village of Nova Esperança (New Hope). Eventually, he led them back to their original home along the Gregorio River, founding Aldeia Sagrada (Sacred Village), the last inhabited place in the Yawanawa Indigenous lands.

In the early 1990s, the indigenous resistance movement in Brazil gained momentum, driven by visionary young people from various tribes. Biraci was a prominent figure in this movement and now dedicates his life fully to the spirituality of his people.
